California’s New Paid Sick Leave Law: Healthy Workplace Healthy Family Act of 2014 (AB 1522)

Law took effect January 1, 2015 but an employee's accrual right and the right to take paid sick leave went into effect July 1, 2015.

REMINDER: BY JULY 8, 2015, employers must individually notify all employees hired prior to January 1, 2015 that the terms and conditions of employment as it relates to paid sick leave has changed. Individuals hired after January 1, 2015 should have already received notice but employers may choose to issue a new notice to all employees.
