Diffusing Difficult and Potentially Violent Encounters

In land-lease communities, owners and managers face many of the same types of issues and disputes that government officials and residents in any other type of community face. Some complaints escalate to confrontations. At some point everyone has the possibility of experiencing a difficult encounter with a resident, a guest or a third party who is on community property. Learned and practiced skills can help community personnel be prepared to handle situations with confidence and competence. This presentation will focus on methods and techniques to de-escalate potentially violent or emotional confrontations, identify threats and provide an appropriate response.

Speakers – Candy Holcombe, Newport Pacific Family of Companies; Bill Dahlin, Hart Kienle Pentecost; Tim Strack, Inspire Communities
